First pole dance training, how to prepare?
If you're wondering how to sign up for pole dancing, which school to choose, and how to prepare for your first training session, you've come to the right place! :) In this post, we'll try to explain everything.
Find your perfect school.
Ideally, you should have a good connection or be close to where you live or work. This way, you'll avoid excuses that it's too far and you just don't feel like it today :)
Then, review the school's reviews. Make sure everything is in order, and if so, visit the website and review the schedule to see if the hours suit you. It's also worth contacting the school or checking their Facebook page—they often have information about new entry-level groups opening up there.
It's also worth looking through photos of the school. See if they capture the atmosphere.
You can buy a 4-entry pass straight away or purchase a single "trial" entry.
Take a friend with you.
Nothing will motivate you like your friend on the tube next to you. You'll be stretching for workouts together, you'll feel more energetic, and you'll instantly have your own photographer with you.
However, if you can't convince her, don't worry! You'll definitely find your buddy field during training :)
What to wear?
For your first workout, wear shorts and a sports top or tight boxer shorts. In pole dancing, the more skin exposed, the easier it is to perform certain moves.
Once you've had your first workout and decide that exercising in pajama shorts isn't for you, check out our store.
You'll love our sets. They're designed with pole dancing in mind, so you'll feel more comfortable than ever during your workout!
What to take with you?
A change of clothes—you might want to bring leggings or a sweatshirt for warming up if you're feeling cold. Also, remember to bring a bottle of water :)
Don't put cream on yourself! :D
Don't apply body cream on the day of your workout. If you do, you'll slide down the pole and find it difficult to perform any moves, and such workouts can be quite draining. It's best to apply body cream the day before or after your workout :)
Do pole dancing sessions cause bruises? Does the training hurt?
In pole dancing, your body rubs against the pole, which isn't necessarily the most pleasant experience at first. You can expect some bruising, especially at first. After a while, your body gets used to it and doesn't produce as many.
The workout itself doesn't hurt, but you may feel sore afterwards.
Don't be afraid to ask!
Training sessions are usually small, with around 5 to 12 people depending on the school. Remember, the instructor is there for you and is there to help you. If you're having trouble with a move, ask for a belay. If you don't remember how to enter a move, ask. :)
Good luck with your training!
